Description
Utmarkscompagniet (part of Albert Collett) offers organized moose hunting with unleashed dogs and experienced guides, based at Øvre Strømmen farm in Salen. Stalking moose that are occupied by the dog is considered by many to be the most exciting form of hunting. The hunt is demanding, but the program is arranged so that both experienced and less experienced hunters can have great experiences.
The Program:
- Guides with dogs provide the basis for up to two teams hunting with unleashed dogs
- Suitable for groups of up to four hunters
- One bull per hunter, as well as an unlimited quota for young animals (calves and yearlings)
- Arrival Thursday evening, hunting Friday–Sunday
- Possibility for transport from Namsos Airport (large vehicle available)
- Large hunting areas, well-suited for unleashed dog hunting
- Utmarkscompagniet handles the transport and skinning of harvested game
- Carcasses are retained by Utmarkscompagniet
- No trophy fees
Accommodation:
- Chef preparing dinner included every day
- We purchase snacks and drinks
- You must prepare breakfast and pack your own lunch – we provide the food
- Shared dinner and briefing with guides on Thursday evening
- Opportunity for sight-in upon arrival
Practicalities:
- The guides live approximately 15 minutes away (Salsbruket)
- Hunting day from 08:00 to approximately 17:00
- No new dog releases after 14:00 – alternative hunting methods will be used
Terrain:
- The hunt will take place in a terrain covering several hundred thousand decares where no other big game hunting occurs during the same period
- The terrain is well-suited for hunting with unleashed dogs due to natural boundaries such as mountains, lakes, and rivers

About the terrain
UtmarksCompagniet is a continuation of the extensive experience in facilitating hunting, fishing, and nature experiences from the former Bangdalsbruget – Firma Albert Collett. The first foreign hunters and anglers arrived as early as the 1880s.
UtmarksCompagniet offers various products within hunting, fishing, and outdoor life – and does everything possible to ensure that you get a wonderful holiday memory to take back home to your everyday life.
Salen has been known for exciting moose hunting in Trøndelag for more than 100 years. Some of the largest hunting trophies from moose hunting in Norway originate from this very area.
In parts of the area, there are also plenty of roe deer that can offer exciting stalking or hunting with slow-moving baying dogs. For interested hunters, various levels of facilitation are offered – everything from self-service to full facilitation including guiding, as well as catering and high-standard accommodation.
We also offer small game hunting in our areas. Hunting for grouse, forest birds, hare, and roe deer. This is distributed across 27 different hunting terrains in Salen, located in Trøndelag.

Øvre Strømmen Gård
Øvre Strømmen Gård – with varied fishing opportunities
Øvre Strømmen Gård is located right by Salsvatn and Skrøvstadvatn. Anyone who has been to Straumen will never forget the place, and most people wish to return there.
Here you can relax and enjoy nature in peace and quiet. It is wonderful to be able to sit on the porch with a cup of coffee early in the morning and enjoy the silence and the view over Straumtjønna. The farm Øvre Strømmen is located at the innermost part of Salsvatn and is easily accessible by car.
The farm is perfectly suited for those who value varied fishing opportunities and relatively good living conditions while also having easy access to a quick trip to the shop. Here there are opportunities to fish for salmon and inland fish, and in addition, you have the opportunity to fish for saltwater fish in the Opløfjord. The hiking opportunities in the nature surrounding the farm are excellent.
There are 8 (+2) beds distributed across 4 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and WC, as well as an additional separate WC. The kitchen is well-equipped with, among other things, a dishwasher and microwave.
