Kautokeino is a true winter eldorado for ice fishing.
Here you will find some of the mountain plateau's most fish-rich waters, known for large grayling, pike, perch, whitefish, and trout. And not least – you have the opportunity to secure the plateau's real jewel: the highly sought-after Arctic char. Whether you want an exciting day trip or a longer stay in the wilderness, we arrange everything for a comfortable trip. We use our local knowledge to find lakes with good potential and ensure that all logistics are handled so you can enjoy the excitement and silence by the ice hole. We plan the trip based on which species you wish to prioritize. Since each lake has its own characteristics, we find areas with good potential for the species you dream of. You only need to pack food and personal equipment – we take care of the rest.
We offer unique accommodation options that allow you to stay right by or on the fishing lake itself. You choose the option that suits you best:
Gamme: Stay in a traditional gamme (turf hut) by the water. With a wood stove offering a warm, quiet, and authentic atmosphere – an ancient and atmospheric way to experience the plateau. This is the ultimate way to experience the tranquility of the wilderness.
Gumpi: For those who want to stay right where the fishing happens, we offer a Gumpi – a mobile cabin on sleds placed out in the terrain or on the lake.
Cabin: We also offer solid cabins near fishing waters for those who want a secure base with more space to dry equipment and relax in front of the fireplace.
Safety and planning: Winter on the Finnmarksvidda plateau is, however, both powerful and unpredictable. We are talking about vast distances and weather changes that can occur incredibly suddenly. What starts as a perfectly calm day can quickly change into challenging conditions. That is precisely why our local knowledge is your greatest safety. We know the plateau's geography and weather signs inside out, and we ensure you are well taken care of during your stay, no matter what nature provides.

Complete the ice fishing experience with a taste of a true feast. We offer Bidus, a traditional Sami festive meal made from reindeer meat, potatoes, and carrots. We deliver the food pre-cooked and vacuum-packed, so it is easy to heat and serve out in the field.
